Can you make a Black and White from a color photo?
Yes, we can convert a color photograph to black and white at no additional charge. We carefully adjust the contrast and values to create your image in black and white. We use a specialized printing process which employs three different black inks so your canvas print is rich and dynamic.
Can you make a Sepia colored print from a color photo?
Yes, we can also convert color photos to a sepia tone at no additional cost. The sepia toned images have a timeless look that can be employed on old photographs or a recent snapshot.
What is the difference between a thick and thin wrapped canvas?
We print canvases in both a 3/4" thickness and an 1.5" thickness. Choosing a size is largely determined by how the canvases will be displayed. Our most popular seller is the thick 1.5" gallery wrap style. The thinner canvas is usually reserved for canvases which will be framed. The thick canvas is more versatile. It can be displayed on its own, with the side wrap is visible or placed in a unique float frame.
What will the sides of my canvas look like?
We offer several options for how the side of your canvas will look.
*Image wrap: crops your picture in such a way that non vital parts of your image will be wrapped to the sides, or extended. We are very careful to avoid cutting off heads or other body parts. If you choose this option, we will contact you if there are problem areas and recommend another choice.
*Mirror wrap: creates a mirrored edge along the sides of the canvas, reflecting part of the image that is on the front. This option is a good choice if the image is tightly cropped and portions of the image would be lost unless they are replicated to the sides. This technique keeps the colors and patterns consistent and is printed to ensure the front of the canvas is the focal point.
*We also offer color wrap options, in black, white and other colors.
What if I want my canvas framed?
We have several framing options for framing your canvas. Our traditional premium frames come in Black, Etched Bronze Tuscan, Gold, and Silver. We use the thin 3/4" canvas with these frames, the canvas is attached and ready to hang when completed.
We also offer a great new look for the Float Frame available in Black, Espresso, Gold, and Silver.
How far does the frame and canvas protrude from the wall?
Our framed canvases protrude only slightly from the wall. The thickness of the thin frame rises above the lip of most our frames less than a 1/4 of an inch.
What is a float frame and how is it different?
Our Float frame in made from plastic and come in 5 different colors Black, Espresso, Gold, Silver, and White.
The float frame is used with the thick 1.5" canvas and looks as if the canvas is floating inside the frame. The frame width is 1.5-2" wide and is securely attached to the canvas from the back. The canvas sit flush inside the frame and has 1/8-1/4 of an inch all the way around to give it the floating look.
How do I hang my canvas?
We attach a heavy duty sawtooth hanger for each of our canvases, simply designate a place on your wall where you would like the canvas and drive in a nail and center the hanger above the nail. We also offer a wire hanger and dust cover backing for $12.50
What are the size limitations?
We can print images from 8×8 up to 40″ × 100″
What type of images do you accept?
We can accept JPEG and png files
I want to take a picture and have it made into a canvas, what is the best way to proceed?
Images taken directly from your digital camera are preferred, these files are usually 1-2mb, and produce high quality images.
What is the smallest file that can be printed to canvas?
We recommend your file needs to be at least 200kb.
If my file is not acceptable will you let me know?
Yes we carefully inspect each image we receive and evaluate if the image will fit what has been ordered. We will contact you regarding any changes or recommendations, prior to printing your order.
Can I use an image that I took with my cell phone?
If you would like to use an image from your cell phone, the best way to do so is to connect your phone to your computer, and download the file directly to your hard-drive. Emailing the picture from your phone, compresses the file and will result a lower quality image which may not be acceptable to print.
Can I use images from my Facebook, or other online photo accounts?
Images from the Internet have been compressed and have lower resolution making it difficult to achieve high quality when printed to canvas. We recommend using images stored on CDs or Digital Memory Cards, as the files and resolution will be more suitable for printing your canvas. There are exceptions and if you would like to submit your image and have us evaluate the quality we will do so and offer alternatives if we feel you would not be happy with the finished quality.
How big should my canvas print be?
The size of your canvas should be considered carefully. Your canvas art can be hung directly on the wall, or accompanied by a frame. With traditional framed art, matting and the frame adds to the overall size and cost, your favorite picture may only be a small 8×10 print, surrounded by 5 or more inches of framing material. By choosing a canvas the same image can printed 3 to 4 times larger and have a much greater impact, and be just as affordable.
How do I know what size will look best?
We offer a wide variety of sizes to fit our clients needs and can create custom canvas to fit. With the prevalence of Digital cameras and their 4×6 aspect ratio we have expanded our sizes to accommodate the wider format.
The Standard Digital Aspect ratio is akin to the wider format of most modern TV, while traditional frames and paper size are not as wide.
The 4×6 is the aspect ratio, of un-cropped photographs from your digital camera
This aspect ratio fits the canvas sizes 11×17, 13×20, 16×24, 20×30, 24×36, and 40×60
Traditional premade frames fall into the 4×5 aspect ratio and fit these sizes. 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, 20×24, 22×28, 30×40, 36×48
This is something to consider when choosing the size of your canvas, if you have a group photo and there are people from edge to edge, we would recommend going to the 16×24 size, rather than trying to make it fit a 16×20.
